Here are some facts about women who served during world war. After 1915 the need for shells for guns increased. The need for women to work in manufacturing industry dramatically increased by a lot. Around 1918 almost a million women work in factories.
Working in factories at this time wasn’t exactly the safest. The working conditions were poor. They were at very high risk of chemical exposure. They had to wear protective clothing. Still more than 400 women died from exposure of TNT.
These women were payed very little. Men had more rights then women. So the men were payed way more or they had more important jobs.
Later on they started to give more bigger jobs to the women. The jobs included fire officers and evacuation officers, drivers of fire engines, trains and trams and etc.
Because of this more women were employed. Women’s employment increased during the Second World War from about 5.1 million in 1939 (26%) to just over 7.25 million in 1943 .
